FRAMING SILK
After many requests for gallery wrapped artwork, I stopped framing under glass. I now use 1 1/2" gallery wrap canvas to wrap the silk over, fastening to the back, leaving the beauty of the natural silk. The silk can be dusted with a feather duster and if needed can be removed from the frame to be dry cleaned. You can see the look of the gallery wrap in the photo to the right.
Other requests are to coat the silk with an acrylic medium. Silk covered in this medium was developed by the Artist Sandra Kay Johnson. Once the silk is coated with this medium the silk will look like an acrylic painting.
Floating silk panels are another option for framing silk, The silk is not framed but rather hung from a rod to fit the style of your decore. See the Floating silk page to view this type of framing silk.
